Big brother is watching you

Does Microsoft's draconian DRM put you off Vista? Read about the new patent agreement submitted by Microsoft for the next version of Windows.

Essentially, every different part of the operating system will be a separate module that will be purchased separately (with it's own DRM, licensing, terms of use etc.) You'll even have to pay separately just to be able to install third-party applications or to use the new RAM you bought.

If this is true (and I get the impression that it is)only a fool will opt for this when there are open source alternatives freely available.

Linux, here i come...

This is the way the world ends

Not with a bang but with a whimper.

It seems that scientists have discovered a cure for cancer. And not just a specific type of cancer, but just about any kind.
Not only that, it is cheap and not patented, meaning that pharmaceutical companies could produce it for pennies.

So why isn't it being produced in large quantities?

Simple: It's easy to make, and unpatented. So pharmaceutical companies won't profit from doing the research necessary to bring a drug to the market.
